Heard many drivers changed batteries outside and not using BYD comapny to change and got sued by BYD with heavy claims.

In Singapore, new BYD cars are insured for 10 years of battery life so still not an issue here.

I throw in a question to the BYD staff by asking can I look for outside repair shops to change my batteries after 10 years and the staff could not reply me and just said its still a long way to go so why worry

BYD to recall more than 115,000 vehicles over safety hazards, shares fall
BYD to recall more than 115,000 vehicles over safety hazards, shares fall
Updates with context, share price

Investing.com-- BYD Co (HK:1211) will recall more than 115,000 models under the Tang and Yuan Pro series, China’s State Administration for Market Regulation said on Friday, over potential safety hazards involving drive motors and batteries.

The recall is BYD's biggest ever, and sent the electric vehicle maker's shares down 2.5% in Hong Kong trade. Losses in BYD also dragged the Hang Seng index down 1.8%.

The SAMR said BYD filed a recall plan with the regulator for 44,535 Tang series vehicles produced between March 28, 2015, and July 28, 2017 over potential malfunctions in their drive motor controller.

Additionally, BYD will recall 71,248 Yuan Pro pure electric vehicles made between February 6, 2021, and August 5, 2022, over improperly installed battery gaskets which could compromise the battery.

The SAMR said the recalls were over potential safety hazards in the models, and that the recalls were the result of an investigation conducted by the regulator.

Friday's recall was BYD's first major recall since September 2024, when the company issued a recall for some 97,000 of its Dolphin and Yuan Plus EVs due to a steering control unit fault.

The company is the world’s largest EV manufacturer, having overtaken U.S. rival Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) in 2024.

I am not against any brands but imagine, EV cars are still new in the market and as one understands, always issues with batteries.
So why by a toy car without engines which is selling below S$17,000 in China but asking for S$170,000 above here. It just doesnt make sense.
Malaysia is selling petrol cheaper than mineral water, they will not push for EV and would delay it as long as it takes
I am a frequent traveler always driving in to beat inflation and a good short staycation. You could hardly see a EV charging station there.
Only buy EV cars if the intention is to drive only in Singapore.
Many issues arises moving forward... just not the time yet... good luck
Once you switch on your air con, batteries goes flat faster, car is super heavy due to the giant batteries and absorbers will spoilt easier due to many humps on Singapore roads. Hybrid cars are still the best. That is why Japan does not want to produce EV vehicles. They have the technologies though.
By the way, please do not ask the sales representives to confirm these disscusions as their intention is to sell their products, they would probably not agreed to the issues shared...

drivers for EV cars allowed to charged up to 80% only due to the long queues and charging hours.
My advice is to buy a hybrid car instead. I am driving a honda obsessey hybrid and I pump petrol twice a month though i drive daily...
