Taiwanese entertainer Huang Zijiao, whose showbiz career and marriage were ruined due to purchasing child sexual exploitation materials from the online platform “Creative Private Room”, is still embroiled in ongoing legal proceedings. Recently, he has encountered a new controversy.
According to reports, on the morning of August 24 this year at around 7:30 a.m., while driving in Sanchong District, New Taipei City, Huang’s red passenger vehicle collided with a 60-year-old female motorcyclist. He was driving along Wugu Wang South Street toward Chongxin Road, and when he reached the intersection of Lane 46, Wugu Wang South Street, his vehicle sideswiped the motorcyclist surnamed Lin, who was travelling in the same direction. Preliminary investigations suggest that the collision was likely caused by failure to maintain a safe following distance. Huang did not wait for the police to arrive and left the scene immediately.
Surveillance footage showed that the impact was significant — the woman’s motorcycle overturned by the roadside. She sustained abrasions to her face, arms, and knees, and later sought medical attention at a hospital before filing a police report with the medical certificate. After reviewing the surveillance footage, police identified the suspect vehicle and summoned the owner for questioning, only to discover that the driver involved was Huang Zijiao. The police handled the matter in accordance with traffic accident procedures. While the exact responsibility for the accident remains under investigation, Huang’s act of leaving the scene without awaiting police arrival constitutes a potential hit-and-run offence. A statement was taken, and the case has been referred to the New Taipei District Prosecutors Office for investigation under the Criminal Code provisions on hit-and-run and negligent injury.
Huang is also accused of purchasing and possessing a large quantity of sexual images of minors from the “Creative Private Room” forum, involving more than 2,000 files, in violation of the Child and Youth Sexual Exploitation Prevention Act. At the end of 2024, the court of first instance sentenced him to eight months’ imprisonment and imposed a fine of NT$100,000. The number of identified victims totalled 47 persons, and it is reported that Huang has reached settlements with 30 of them, paying compensation amounting to several million New Taiwan dollars.
His family has also become entangled in the public backlash. It is said that he and his wife, actress Meng Geng-ru, quietly completed divorce procedures in May this year, ending their five-year marriage. Their three-year-old daughter, nicknamed “Huang Yumi (Corn)”, is reportedly under Meng Geng-ru’s care.
