Dear Esteemed Admins/Mods/Webmaster,

One of the most rampant occurrence/eyesore in AB forums (whether intentional or otherwise), is the never-ending flashing of yellow cards. While many regular members show tremendous respect towards stipulated rules & regulations, often there are 'over-enthusiastic' or 'careless' members who will catch/spread the bug. The stubborn bug may incubate in the individual and relapse from time to time. Hereby, may I recommend a few steps to contain this bug?

1. Locking of threads
This function is very useful to prevent instances of blind replies. At the first instance a 'blind' member is sighted, the thread should be locked immediately to prevent domino effect. This process can be administered manually by admins/mods or thread starter himself. Forum members who chanced upon the blind replies can hit report button to alert the authorities.

To deter old thread replies, perhaps after a certain number of days deemed fit, threads in certain forums should be automatically locked by the system. Not sure currently if spelled out anywhere how many days considered old thread. This may be applicable to main football forums like EPL, UEFA, etc. but may be considered harmless i.e. Gossip Corner, DPGSB, etc.

2. Operant Conditioning
Operant conditioning is a method of learning that occurs through rewards and punishments for behavior. At the moment, there's already a system in place to reward contributing members with titles and stars while offending members be counter-rewarded with cards and suspensions.

However, if the current punitive steps is not deemed effective enough to effect a behavioural change, perhaps a review of its intensity is necessary. Otherwise, this becomes a learned operant conditioning too and the vicious cycle will repeat itself over and over again. We can ask ourselves to consider what's the best deterrent, perhaps to hit where it hurts the most; an aggravated extensive ban (weeks/months), demotion from current ranks or even a permanent ban if all methods fail.

Just my 2 cents' worth. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Regards,
Nice_Guy

Thanks for the suggestion.

The automatic locking of threads beyond 3 days old at the main forums is definitely a good idea.

I’m also in agreement that we should also look into the behavior of recalcitrant members who perpetually reply blindly, post ambiguously or wrongly even after incessant warnings and suspensions.

For your considerations please, webmaster  @AsianBookie

I think a few minor tweaks, like upsize the warning visuals, so that the warning will look more shameful. Like yellow card that looks 3 times bigger, warning font size that's twice bigger.

"Margin of Safety" as the Central Concept of Betting
A team's past ability to create quality chances is the expected number of goals that they should have produced. The expected number of goals in excess of the actual number of goals constitutes the "margin of safety". The margin is counted on to cushion the bettor against discomfiture in the event of a performance decline in the upcoming fixture. The soccer bettor does not expect the upcoming fixture to work out the same as in the past. If he were sure of that, the safety margin demanded might be small. The function of a safety margin is, in essence, that of rendering unnecessary an accurate estimate of the team's winning probability in the upcoming fixture. If the safety margin is sufficiently large, then it is enough to assume that the team's upcoming performance will not fall far below their expected goals in order for the bettor to feel sufficiently cushioned against bad luck. The safety margin is always dependent on the odds that the bettor accepts from the bookie. It will be large in certain odds, small at some lower odds, and negative when the odds is too low. However, even with a safety margin in the bettor's favour, he may lose his bet. For the margin guarantees only that he has a better chance of winning - not that loss is impossible.
Theory of Diversification
There is a close logical connection between the concept of safety margin and the principle of diversification. One is correlative with the other. Even with a margin in the bettor’s favor, an individual bet may work out badly. But as the number of such commitments is increased the more certain does it become that the aggregate of the profits will exceed the aggregate of the losses. This point may be made more colorful by a reference to the arithmetic of roulette. If a man bets $1 on a single number, he is paid $35 profit when he wins—but the chances are 37 to 1 that he will lose. He has a “negative margin of safety.” In his case diversification is foolish. The more numbers he bets on, the smaller his chance of ending with a profit. If he regularly bets $1 on every number (including 0 and 00), he is certain to lose $2 on each turn of the wheel. But suppose the winner received $39 profit instead of $35. Then he would have a small but important margin of safety. Therefore, the more numbers he wagers on, the better his chance of gain. And he could be certain of winning $2 on every spin by simply betting $1 each on all the numbers. (Incidentally, the two examples given actually describe the respective positions of the player and proprietor of a wheel with a 0 and 00.)

Good suggestion too in my opinion.
Make it harder for a perpetual ‘blind replier’ to do so.
Perhaps even implementing a time lapse of 2/3 minutes between replies will suffice.
Prevention is truly better than cure.

Not bad, i see a ********** expert here.
However, that pop up can only be prompted if the old thread is being bumped.

FAQ by Tipster Legend™.

Q1: What's contribution?
A1: Only posting of tips is counted as. Other forms of contribution is not accepted, and are counted as void and null.

Q2: How to turn forum members into coward?
A2: You block them! When they've no way to defend themselves, they're coward!

Q3: How to win a debate/argument?
A3: There are many ways in fact. You can assemble keyboard warriors or SJWs to defend yourself. You can even create multiple dupes to 'blind' the members that you in fact have a lot of defenders.

Q4: I won 1 and lost 4 matches. What should I do?
A4: You're encouraged to celebrate your win and ignore the 4 losses. Nobody will harp on it even if you lost overall. Make sure you celebrate like wild!

Q5: What's the worst, most useless and meaningless suggestion did a forum ever receive?
A5: Disable post replies. WIN!

Leader, your suggestion is good.
However, many repeating members just love to collect yellow cards like nobody's business.
They just want to chase for the most-collected-yellow-card award.

To lock threads, TS needs to co-operate fully.
Unfortunately, most TS don't bother about locking threads.
Some even misuse the locking function when picks are losing to prevent flame (which flaming will not take place at all even if he/she doesn't lock his/her thread).

If the current automatic thread locking is 5 days, i agree on the proposal to minimise it to 3 days.
To bump a 3 days old thread is just god damn stupid when it's already been pushed to the 3rd or 4th page.
